Talkgroup Description
The Amateur Radio Collective of Western Carolina (ARCWC) is a regional network of amateur radio operators from multiple clubs and backgrounds, united by a shared commitment to service, action, and preparedness.
We are not a club—we are a collective force, working together to support our local radio clubs, the community, and one another through service, events, mutual aid, and real-world projects that advance the amateur radio hobby.
Our Mission
ARCWC strengthens the regional effectiveness of amateur radio by fostering collaboration, hands-on training, and real-world application of radio technology. We prioritize action, teaming up with operators who are ready to assist, educate, and contribute to the advancement of amateur radio while supporting communities and clubs when needed.
Who We Are
We are a growing collective of amateur radio operators from across Western Carolina, representing various clubs, groups, and independent operators. Setting aside club boundaries, politics, and unnecessary overhead, we pool our resources to focus on cooperative efforts, readiness, technical projects, and community engagement, all with the goal of making a meaningful impact.
Our Goals
• Community Service & Mutual Aid: Provide hands-on support to radio clubs, groups, and local communities, offering additional communication resources when needed.
• Education & Training: Facilitate (or augment) workshops, presentations, and field exercises focused on amateur radio topics and overcoming communication challenges specific to our region.
• Interoperability & Coordination: Strengthen regional communication networks, foster cooperation, and collaborate on projects that enhance the amateur radio infrastructure and readiness.
• Community Engagement: Promote active involvement in public service initiatives, reinforcing amateur radio as a vital community asset.
Activities
• Support and facilitate events and field exercises, assisting with communication scenarios, preparedness drills, and technical demonstrations.
• Utilize, explore, and develop innovative communication methods to expand amateur radio capabilities beyond traditional systems.
• Collaborate with and provide direct support to amateur radio clubs, ARES/AUXCOMM groups, and community response efforts, offering expertise and supplemental resources for events, exercises, and technical projects.
